Is Curt Maly Austin’s Next Social Media Rock Star?

Is Curt Maly, the Co Founder of multiple social media marketing companies, the Austin Social Media Rock Star for 2012?  According the local newspaper, the Austin American Statesman, Curt Maly is one of the nominees for the 2012 Statesman Social Media Awards.

The 2012 Statesman Social Media Awards reward the top social media minds in Austin, Texas.  The potential Social Media Rock Stars are nominated by members of the public and judged by the following individuals: Statesman social media editor Maira Garcia, food writer Addie Broyles, tech culture writer Omar Gallaga online community manager for Whole Foods Michael Aaron Bepko, who represented the 2011 overall winner, Whole Foods.

“It is an honor to be nominated for this award by the public,” says Black Box Social Media Co Founder Curt Maly.  “We work with several local Austin businesses, both large and small, and have recently created a do it yourself social media marketing course called ’Social Media In 7 Minutes’.  I’m thrilled that the efforts of my company, partners, and employees are being recognized with this nomination.”

Black Box Social Media is working with a variety of different clientele ranging from Reality TV stars to best selling authors, professional sports teams, real estate gurus, motivational speakers, etc…

Tired of turning away small businesses who required social media marketing assistance, Curt Maly and business partner Nick Bridges formed a do it yourself social media marketing firm called Social Media In 7 Minutes, which provides businesses with the necessary training and implementation tools to create and implement a social media marketing plan in just minutes a day.

“The opportunities and potentials of social media and social media marketing are limitless,”  says Mr. Maly.  “This is a very exciting time to be in this industry.  Traditional marketing methods, like Yellow Page advertising, radio and TV ads, print media, etc… just aren’t working for small businesses today.  Creating and implementing a profitable social media marketing plan utilizing these appropriate web 2.0 techniques will go a long ways towards helping businesses not just in the Austin, Texas community, but anywhere in the world.”

“With Facebook alone estimated to have over 1 billion users by the end of 2012, do you think you may have an audience and may be able to find potential customers on social media?” asks Nick Bridges.  “A savvy small business can tap into this pool of potential customers, but only if they know what they’re doing, understand the possibilities, and know the ‘ninja’ tricks that will get you noticed rather than ignored.”

The Statesman is accepting nominees and the public will be able to comment on the nominees up until Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012. They will then pick the top 10 winners and host a happy hour in their honor. An overall winner will also be named at the awards party.

The 10 award winners will be announced on or about February 22, 2012 and will be posted online.
