New Features of Google+

New Features of Google+

Google is making it simple for newcomers to Google+ by providing great resources and help pages for how to use Google+ and keeping it fresh with new features of Google+.  The help section of Google+ was ready to go for the launch, but more recently Google added a new section that shows new features of Google+ and teaches its users how to use Google+’s new tools and goodies.

New Features of Google+ | The Page

The creators at Google have wildly innovative techniques for teaching new users how to use new features of Google+.  Most explanations are short blog posts about Google+’s new tool: what it does, how it works, and how you can use it effectively to better your overall Google+ feature.  Most of these small posts contain links to comments from Google employees about the new features, and even links to YouTube videos giving you a rundown of the new tool.

New Features of Google+ | New for Businesses

Not only does this help section teach us how to use Google+, but it also contains news and updates addressing the future of Google+.  For example if you’re waiting to open your business profile then you might find this new update useful:

“Business profiles will be available to everyone in the initial version: There may be a tiny handful of business profiles that will remain in the meantime solely for the purpose of testing how businesses interact with consumers. In the meantime, we ask you not to create a business profile using regular profiles on Google+. The platform at the moment is not built for the business use case, and we want to help you build long-term relationships with your customers.”

In a recent video, Christian, a Google+ product manager announced that Google+ profiles for business will be one of the new features of Google+ to come out later this year.  He promises that it will “include things like rich analytics and the ability to connect that identity to other parts of Google that businesses might use on a daily basis like AdWords.”

Google is currently test running business profiles to see how users react with them through Circles and their stream.  Not sure how they chose the brands and companies, but I wouldn’t mind being on that elite list.  Here’s the link to apply to be a test member, so throw your card in the hat and maybe you’ll be chosen!

New Features of Google+ | The +1 Button

If you are not aware of The +1 Button, one of most useful new features of Google+, its pretty much like the Like button for Facebook.  Heres what the guys at Google have to say about making the +1 Button faster and what it means for you:

“Webmasters: we’ve made the +1 button faster!: The +1 button is a great opportunity to allow the users of your website to recommend the site to their friends, potentially bringing in more qualified traffic from Google search. And it just got faster! The +1 button will now render up to 3x faster on websites without any work required by the webmaster. Also, we’ve introduced a new asynchronous snippet for the button that webmasters can use to load the button without slowing down the load time of their page. To get an updated snippet for your site, visit our +1 button configuration tool. If you have any questions feel free to +mention +Timothy Jordan or ask in the Webmaster forum. You can view more of+Timothy Jordan’s post on Google+.”
