Facebook Send Button

Facebook Send Button Pop Up

The Facebook ‘Like’ button celebrated it’s one year birthday the other day and now it has a sibling, the Facebook Send Button.  The purpose of the Facebook Send button is to make sharing information with friends easier than before.

Unlike the ‘Like’ button, which is a public display of approval, the Facebook Send button is intended to be a way to share information in a more private manner.

It is anticipated that the Facebook Send button will probably take off like wildfire as the Like button did, and should be added to about 10,000 websites per week.  So far, only about 50 websites are utilizing this function.

If you are interested in adding the Facebook Send button to your website, its code is now available on Facebook’s Developer Website. And as with the Like button, it only takes a few lines of code to get the Send button running on a website.

How the Facebook Send Button Works

Here’s how the Facebook Send button works.  Similar to the ‘Like’ button, you click on it.  A ‘pop up’, as is illustrated in this article, will come into view. You simply add in the name of your Facebook friend that you would like to add and enter in a message.  The article will then be sent to the individuals’ Facebook account.

What do you think of this new technology? Do you think this will be a bust, or will the Facebook Send button catch on as the Like button did?
