Another day, another Facebook scam alert. Black Box Social Media has kept you up to date with the most recent actions from Facebook hackers and scammers and will continue to do so as warranted. This time, the warning applies to the Facebook Twilight Breaking Dawn scam. Here’s how it works:
Facebook Twilight Breaking Dawn Scam Alert
This Facebook Twilight Breaking Dawn scam is a photo scam. If you have been tagged in a Facebook friend’s photo album or see a link promoting a Twilight: Breaking Dawn game, it is most likely a scam designed to steal your personal data, Mashable.com reports.
If you click on the link, you’ll be invited to start playing the game. If you’re using Facebook HTTPS, you will first be prompted to switch to a regular connection, which should alarm some users. This particular scheme will make you “Like” the game without your permission, and it will show on your Wall, thus allowing it to spread further. If you continue, you will be asked to give permission to a Facebook App, and finally you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire with some personal data.
If you have fallen victim to this scam, then you will want to check your profile page and delete any posts that you did not make. Then go to your security settings and remove any apps that you don’t recall signing up for.
As always, be cautious before allowing any Facebook apps on to your page so you don’t fall victim to hackers or scammers, like the Facebook Twilight Breaking Dawn scam.
