Fee for Facebook

Are you a sucker for falling for the fee for Facebook prank? Is being a sucker a bad thing?

A panic has spread among the social media cyber world.  Will Facebook be free or will the social media giant charge a fee for Facebook?  You’ve all seen the following posts on Facebook about whether or not there will be a fee for Facebook and it’s services:

“FACEBOOK JUST RELEASED THEIR PRICE GRID FOR MEMBERSHIP. $9.99 PER MONTH FOR GOLD MEMBER SERVICES, $6.99 PER MONTH FOR SILVER MEMBER SERVICES, $3.99 PER MONTH FOR BRONZE MEMBER SERVICES, FREE IF YOU COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. WHEN YOU SIGN ON TOMORROW MORNING YOU WILL BE PROMPTED FOR PAYMENT INFO…IT IS OFFICIAL IT WAS EVEN ON THE NEWS. FACEBOOK WILL START CHARGING DUE TO THE NEW PROFILE CHANGES. IF YOU COPY THIS ON YOUR WALL YOUR ICON WILL TURN BLUE AND FACEBOOK WILL BE FREE FOR YOU. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ON IF NOT YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED IF YOU DO NO PAY”

All you have to do is ‘cut and paste’ and then Facebook will magically not charge you and, tah-dah, change your picture to blue.  So is this true?  Will there be a fee for Facebook?

Will There Be a Fee for Facebook | In a Word…

No.

Though, since the message is in all caps, it is tempting to believe.  But, no, there will not be a fee for Facebook.

We have our contacts in Facebook who’ve answered the question in the following manner: “The rumor on the internet regarding a fee for Facebook. We have no plans to charge for Facebook. It’s free and always will be.”

So relax, Facebook users, and understand that the only fee for Facebook usage will be with your privacy (rim shot).
