Are the New Facebook Features Popular or Hated by Users?

Almost 56% of Facebook users who are actually aware of the new Facebook features dislike them while only 36% seem to enjoy them, according to the results of a new poll conducted by Gallup.  The company has recently began testing their newest signature product, “Timeline,” as a way to digitally map the users” entire online lives.  It is also testing “Open Graph” applications that automatically share notices about websites visited and content accessed.

Here are some of the interesting statistics regarding the new Facebook features popularity:

  • Only 26% of respondents who use Facebook at least daily said they were “very concerned” about privacy, compared with 35% who use the social network at least once a week, and 39% who use Facebook less often.  Apparently, the more you use Facebook, the less concerned you are about privacy.
  • 87% of those polled who use Facebook daily said they noticed the new features while only 34% of poll respondents who use Facebook less than once a week were aware of the new features.
  • Of those polled, 48% had a Facebook page. Of that group, 30% are on several times a day, while 29% say they visit the site at least once a day.

Mashable.com also published the results of a poll they took from 3,200 users on Sept. 30. In that poll, about 59% of users said they couldn’t be bothered to fill in their Timelines.

So what do you think?  Will the new Facebook features fail to keep the interest of the public?
