Have you checked your YouTube Channel lately? If so, then you may have noticed a change or two to its design. The Channels on YouTube have changed. Here are some of the significant updates that YouTube has made.
Channels on YouTube | Change 1- You have NO friends
Sounds harsh, but if you look at the new channels on YouTube, you’ll find that while your subscribers and comments remain, your friends are all gone. While you can’t see them, you can still send them messages through bulletins, so all is not lost. Unfortunately, you cannot add any more friends. In addition, if you liked looking and the bright, smiley faces of your subscribers, well, you are out of luck, because YouTube has removed that function as well. So much for social in this media.
Channels on YouTube | Change 2- Feature Video
Now to a feature I actually like; the Channel Feed. According to YouTube, your Channel feed is the new distribution center for your channel. Any content that you share (uploads, comments, favorites, likes, playlists, etc…) will be posted to your feed and seen by your subscribers on their homepage. Therefore, you should post items to your feed regularly to keep your Channel content fresh and your subscribers coming back often. You can also choose to automatically share YouTube activity on YouTube and your favorite sites like Facebook and Twitter.
The fact is it’s extremely simple to choose or remove the feature video function on your homepage.
Simply click on the ‘Choose a featured video’ box and select the video that you would like to choose. You can check the box to have the video automatically start playing once the channel loads. Or if you prefer to not have a featured video play, you may remove the function.
Channels on YouTube | About the Channel
It’s now much simpler, in my opinion, to edit the channels on YouTube after these changes. Here’s a list of what you can edit:
About the channel– you can click ‘edit’ to give your Channel a good name and description. Potential subscribers will see this when previewing your Channel.
Facebook link– You can add the link to your Facebook page on your channel as well.
Edit your featured playlist- you can edit your featured playlist on YouTube simply by clicking on edit and choosing which videos you’d like to feature.
You can also add links to other websites or accounts you have.
Channels on YouTube | I don’t like this change
In the top right corner of your YouTube screen, you can hit the edit button.
The first option that you will come up ‘Channels Version’, which will provide you with a button that will allow you to revert back to the previous version of YouTube.
So, what do you think about the channels on YouTube being updates?
