Facebook No Longer Penalizes 3rd Party Apps

Where’s the Love Button? Facebook No Longer Penalizes 3rd Party Apps!

Do you remember when email first came out?  I remember having 5 different email accounts (just to date myself: go.com, prodigy.net, mail.excite.com, netscape.com, and yahoo.com- oh those were the days) that I would use.  The problem is that it became cumbersome to have to log into each one and check my email, and naturally, I stopped checking them.  Eventually, I was able to pull in all of my email accounts into one Outlook account, which greatly enhanced my email communication.

Now the same challenges are occurring with social media accounts.

If you’re like me, you probably have a Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter account, and actively participate in many groups within each social site.  As such, logging into each account and actively engaging with multiple groups can be cumbersome as well.  As such, you may find your engagements lagging and not be getting the most out of your social media marketing plan.

Failure to have a software tool that allows you to simply, quickly, and efficiently engage with others will ruin your social media marketing plan!

So what’s the solution?  As Outlook allowed us to pool together multiple email accounts, there is software out there that allows us to access and manage multiple social media sites and groups from one location.  These 3rd party apps can be the difference between a successful implementation of a social media marketing plan and its ultimate failure.

Just when we think we’re saved, here’s the dilemma: Facebook has been penalizing users for taking advantage of the benefits of 3rd party apps.  Well, the good news is that Facebook no longer penalizes 3rd party apps, so you are free to utilize software and engage with others from one platform.

Facebook No Longer Penalizes 3rd Party Apps | What Does Facebook Have to Say?

The following blurb is from Matt Trainer on the Facebook Developers site:

We’re always making changes to our News Feed algorithm. Most recently, we made some changes to our Page posts ranking system, which added more signals to determine Page post quality. However, we realized that some of the new signals were using aggregate data across many Pages rather than individual Pages. In looking at aggregate data, the distribution of high quality Page posts was at times, negatively impacted. We are addressing this issue and have implemented a resolution. We will continue to add in more Page post quality signals over time to ensure that people are always receiving engaging and relevant content in their News Feed. Please continue to post engaging and relevant content to fans. You may view your Page Insights to learn more about what people are responding to. https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/151722701585098

This is great news!  Now marketers will finally be able to utilize the benefits of 3rd party apps to promote their content over multiple sites, groups, and pages.  After all, the benefit of managing a social media marketing plan is to use it to market your business, not spend your time managing your social media marketing plan.  So the big question is this…which 3rd party apps is best to use?
