How to Translate on Google+
Although I have the ability to read Korean script, sometimes it would be easier if I could read posts on my News Feed from my Korean friends without running to a dictionary, and now that users are able to translate on Google+ I can do just that. As the world gets smaller, we have the ability to connect, make friends, and create networks with people from all around the world, and now that we can translate with Google+ our conversations and updates have even more meaning and reach.
Translate on Google+ | The Skinny
Google Translate for Google+ was released last Monday and its a simple extension to your Google Chrome browser that allows you to translate on Google+. The new tool has the ability to translate posts and comments into more than 50 languages according to a Mashable article.
“We’ve heard from a lot of Google+ users wanting an easier way to understand posts written in other languages. I’m an engineer on Google Translate and thought we could do something about that,” writes Google Translate front-end and mobile development lead Josh Estelle in an update on Google+. “Once you’ve installed the extension, refresh Google+ and you’ll see Translate links next to posts and comments. Click the links to instantly see translations.”
We all know the limitations of Google Translate and how somethings are still lost in translation, so its no different when you translate on Google+. In other words there will be some posts that will need to be double-checked for correct translation. However being able to translate on Google+ is one more advantage that Google+ has over its social media competitors. Enjoy!
