How to Use CoTweet

Having a central hub for all of your social media needs really saves a lot of time when you are a marketer, hence the innovation of CoTweet.  CoTweet is a free internet-based social media management and analytics tool that stretches its reach from platform to platform making it easy to measure the success and effectiveness of all of your social media campaigns.

The cool part about CoTweet is that it is a simple program with a user friendly design that you don’t have to be a computer wiz to use.  Just as you would access your social media sites, CoTweet is accessed through your web browser as well by logging in with your email address and password.

Getting Started with CoTweet

After signing up with your email, you will be directed to CoTweet’s support staff.  A member of the support staff will work with you based on your company’s needs.  This will help you to customize CoTweet to effectively work in line with your social media marketing expectations.  However, if you’re a pro and you just want to dive in headfirst, you can skip this step altogether.

Leaving the Work to The Pros with CoTweet

CoTweet is set up so that you can easily assign different social media tasks to the appropriate team members.  Suppose that your company has many different products or services.  You want to make sure that follow-ups to questions are assigned to the right department.  CoTweet allows the user to put the employees intials behind each tweet so that that person is notified through email and informed that they need to follow up with a response.  This also makes it easy for the manager to know who to contact if there is ever a problem with a customers social media interaction with the company.

Not only that, with CoTweet’s OnDuty status lets everyone know who is responsible for the social media stream at a particular time.  This can free up other team member’s constant view of the stream, and make up for a lot of lost productivity due to unorganization of your assignments.  The person “OnDuty” will also receive emails to let them know when something needs to be acted on, therefore they don’t have to constantly check the sites for updates.

Web Analytics with CoTweet

Not only can you manage clicks on social media content with CoTweet, but you can also easily integrate all of your web analytics platforms by including a shortened URL or campaign code.

In an exclusive interview with Mashable.com, Kevin Bobowski, CoTweet’s marketing director said, “This provides closed-loop reporting and allows marketers to associate revenue and other success metrics to social media activity,” Bobowski says.

I’m a Salesforce freak, so the fact that CoTweet has launched a Data Integration framework to link the application to CRM’s like Salesforce is very exciting.  Now we can link a Facebook or Twitter conversation to one of our contact’s profiles on Salesforce and tag it as a lead or opportunity.  How sweet is that?  I’m a nerd, you don’t need to remind me.  Linking all of this data together makes it a lot easier to have.

Downside of CoTweet

One of the disadvantages of CoTweet is that it only tracks performance on Twitter and Facebook, which means that it doesn’t track performance on YouTube, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Ping.fm, or WordPress.  Therefore, if you implement a video marketing campaign with YouTube (and we highly recommend that you implement a video channel with YouTube) and you want to track your YouTube performance, than you will need another software tracking system that will perform this duty.  To be fair, though, there is really no tracking service that includes all social media products (yet).
