Social Media Tools for Your Business

If you are a publicist and you aren’t using social media to publicize your business then you’re probably living under a rock.  But don’t worry, its definitely not to late to start and the last thing you need to feel is intimidated by the process.  There are plenty of new social media tools available to take a huge chunk of that workload off of your hands and simplify the whole process.  I’ve chosen 8 social media tools below and with these pointers you will be on the ground running in no time.

Social Media Tools

  • Blogpulse – Find out what’s buzzing by searching for blogs with a URL, topic, or by name.  These searches often find social media blogs that other major search engines sometimes miss.  It also includes Top Links, People, Videos, Blogs, Key Phrases, and other topics for the day.
  • Google Blog Search – Of course this one should be a no-brainer, but the list wouldn’t be complete without it.  Google Blog Search is simple to use and it trawls all of the social media sites for blogs on any topic whatsoever.
  • Addictomatic – Addictomatic searches the web for latest news, blog posts, videos, and images.  Are your social media campaigns and articles present?  Addictomatic can be the judge of your digital presence.  It separates your keyword search by where it found the information (i.e. Google), and lays out drag and drop windows on the page so you can customize the order to your desire.
  • How Sociable – How Sociable measures your brand’s visibility across both social media sites and other places such as Google Images.  How does it do this?  Well they took a majorly recognizable brand (i.e Coca-Cola) and gave it a score of 1000 across the board.  It is on a sliding scale so if Coca-Cola has 8,000 times more photos on Flickr than your company, but your company still has 10 photos, you will still get a score.  Currently this is best for judging social media presence for large companies, but they are working on revolutionizing the entire system.  Hold your horses!
  • Social Mention – Use this to search any topic, author, etc across 100 social media sites all in one stop.  It gives you a positive, neutral, or negative score, and it include top keywords and hashtags for your SEO fix.  Don’t leave home without it.
  • Tweetreach – I’m sure that you already know how to search for top tweets and see what’s currently trending, however Tweetreach allows you to search for a topic, it analyzes the tweets that match your search, and shows how many people were reached by those tweets.  My favorite part about it is that it actually shows who sent the tweets and how many followers they have.  It’s a great way to recruit people with a lot of sway in your field.
  • Hootsuite – Sure Tweetdeck is all the buzz for managing social media and networking all in one spot, but Hootsuite seems to be more user friendly and it still allows you to schedule out posts as well as manage several accounts for all your social media needs.
  • Google Trends – Just another reason why Google is a monster that knows no limits, Google Trends.  This is great if you are working on a news topic and you need to know the traffic or geographic visit patterns.
