In a similar fashion to the extras that you might find on your favorite DVD is what you will find with Facebook’s newest updates. However, unlike finding inside stories and anecdotal embellishments about a movie, you’ll find a way to significantly customize your Facebook profile and your entire Facebook experience while still maintaining a modicum of privacy. This is quite a significant thing when you consider that a great number of users of Facebook have still not converted over to Facebook Timeline and have yet to customize it for either professional mandates or personal desires.
It’s likely that some people have already delved deeply into the new timeline format, but many people haven’t. If you’re not careful, however, you may miss out on some wonderful features in making your Facebook account and your social media experience uniquely your own.
Facebook E-mail
If you really want to experience a new and refreshing Facebook Timeline experience you need to think about the Facebook e-mail function. If you go to the contact information section of your Facebook profile page, you’ll find that you have an e-mail address. This e-mail address is your public user name with the @facebook.com at the end.
Now, most people are concerned that this inbox of your Facebook e-mail is chock-full of messages that you haven’t read. However, it’s important to understand that if you have any messages that are addressed to your Facebook e-mail, a little red number will appear by the e-mail account reminding you of unread messages. If there is no reminder, you have no messages.
In addition, you can also send messages with your Facebook e-mail, even when you’re not using Facebook. Most e-mail systems will be able to send as well as receive messages sent from your Facebook e-mail. This is another feature of Facebook Timeline that most people are unaware of.
Life Events
If you haven’t made the changeover to Facebook Timeline, this may be the best reason to do so at your soonest possible convenience. With Timeline, Facebook allows you to document as much or as little of your life as you want to. You can write statuses, post various photos or create a life event.
If you’re unfamiliar with what a life event is with Facebook, these events can be virtually anything that is happened in your life, from the school you went to, to the relationship you have, even to your first tattoo.
It’s important to understand that most people won’t want to share every bit of information on every important event in their life. However, if you’re one of those people that want to, Facebook Timeline gives you the option to do just that.
App Settings
Although the app setting feature may not the most important aspects of Facebook Timeline, this can offer a bit more of a nostalgic flair than anything else. All you need to do is move under the account settings tab and that is where you can find all of the apps you have used on your profile.
If you want, you can clean out the apps that you’re no longer using as well as taking a stroll down the Facebook memory lane as it were. You can look at all the apps from the past such as bumper stickers or apps for pieces of flair as a remembrance of how you once used this social media website.
