Twitter Acquires BackType | What does this mean?
Twitter recently bought the social media analytics giant BackType and this means the world for your business’s Twitter marketing needs. BackType is an innovative social media tool that allows business’s to measure the value of their campaigns across most social media platforms. Now their main focus will be bringing their revolutionary social media technology and tools exclusively to Twitter.
BackType’s History with Twitter
Before the acquistion, BackType created a tool called BackTweet. BackTweets offered very insightful data about the value of your Twitter presence by allowing its users to see who is tweeting your URL, and find your major influencers that resulted in many RT’s (Retweets) in order to reach out to your most influencial consumers.
This is really what drew Twitter to BackType in the first place. BackTweet will still be offered to BackType’s current customers, but unfortunately it will not be allowing new registration for the product. However, BackType will be working feverishly at Twitter headquarters to innovate new technology for social media marketing and analytics.
What to Expect From The BackType Acquisition
BackType will be trawling through tweet conversations in order to provide data on the number of people your tweets are reaching. According to an article on EnterpriseAppsToday, “the company claims it can also track when your customers see a tweet that influenced them to make a purchase hours, days, weeks or even months later.”
BackType stated in a blog post, “joining Twitter gives us the opportunity to bring insight to tens of millions of publishers around the world that are using Twitter to communicate and connect with their audience, we’re also excited to bring our technology (especially Storm) to Twitter where it can have a big impact across the company.”
Currently Twitter users tweet 200 million tweets a day. With Twitter owning exclusive rights to BackType, it can analyze these tweets (their patterns, reach, etc.) and this means that in the near future you will be able to become a part of this revolutionary innovation in social media marketing. We will see soon if this service will be available exclusively to premium customers and what the cost will be for us.
