What is the Google Plus 1

According to Mashable.com, users who opt into the Google Plus 1 button experiment (and soon everyone else) in Google Labs will start seeing a Plus 1 icon next to each link in Google search results.  This Google Plus 1 icon will be defined by Google as a “public stamp of approval”. When you Google Plus 1 something, your name becomes associated with that link “in search, on ads, and across the web,” according to the company. It also shows up in a feed on your Google Profile, which is required to use the product.

Google Plus 1| How will it affect SEO?

Google also plans to offer to publishers a Google Plus 1 button that lets readers Plus 1 something without leaving the publisher’s site, similar to the Facebook Like Button. The Plus 1 button will directly influence its market share dominating search rankings. This change will allow good quality content that is shared to impact SEO rankings, while content farms that just put out keyword content solely for the purpose of achieving SEO rankings will probably not be shared, and thus, not rank as high.

In conclusion, the Plus 1 button falls within Google’s goal of providing quality search content on the web as well as competing with Facebook for instant interaction among it’s users.  So be prepared to see a Facebook Like Button and Google Plus 1 button at the bottom of many websites in the near future.
